Garage Trusses

For a 22 x 29 foot garage with a storage space above the garage what size trusses are recommended -- 2x4 or 2x6? Is there a building code policy for garage trusses?

You are speaking of trusses and not ceiling joists? The structure of a truss generally does not grant storage capacity.

Should the ceiling joist be 2x4 or 2x6 to support a small storage area on top of a 22x29 garage? Then the trusses should be what size to support the roof?

I'm sorry, you should have mailed me to jolt my memory......

Trusses are pre engineered and you order them from any lumber yard. Tell them your span and pitch and have them deliveredto your site. You will need alot of friends to help you lift them into place.

2/4's or 2x6's are way to small to carry the 22 foot span for loading purposes. If you insist on that size for design purposes, you are going to need an intermediate support to cut the span in half for light loading on 2x6's (I won't even mention the other size).
