I have a gas fireplace but due to the high cost of gas I do not use it. I was thinking about converting it to a natural fireplace. Is there a difference structurally between a gas fireplace and natural wood fireplace? Or can I just take the gas log set up out and just use wood?

Sorry, but there is no way to convert a zero clearance gas fireplace to wood burning. The standards for these two products are like night and day. Most important is that the chimney would not support the kinds of temperatures wood fires can generate. However, your house would likely burn down long before that caused a problem.

You simply can not do it.
