"fixing/adjusting the ductwork to alleviate some of the heating issues." is a good idea. The result will be due to whether it is done using the laws of physics and the best design procedures; which can not be guaranteed from the unknown.

Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made.
