Have you ever heard of grasshoppers eating a screen? I have large screened in back porch in central Wisconsin. The screen is only 3 years old and grasshoppers have ate about 100 holes in the screen. Do grasshoppers eat one kind of screen vs another. I don't know whether the screen is fiberglass or aluminum all I know is that it is black. |

Hi,
My parents just built a house in South Eastern Pennsylvania. I spoke to my father today, and he said they found holes in their screens. A few days later, they found a grasshopper eating another hole. The builder was not surprised, as they have heard it before, from other customers.
I don't know what material the screens are made of, but Im trying first to find the manufacturers name. It sounds like big problems for the manufacturer!
Do you know who made your screens?
Regards,

Hi,
I do not know the name of the manufacturer, but the screen is made of a black material. I think it is fiberglass.

We just saw a huge grasshopper on our screened porch today. It had chewed a nice 1 inch hole in the fiberglass screen.
I doubt if they could due damage to an aluminum screen. |

Grasshopppers making holes in vinyl screens |

For four years, we have been trying to figure out what was making holes in our vinyl screens on our porch. My husband has recently replaced several of the screens. Yesterday I saw a grasshopper next to a new hole and started searching the internet to confirm that it was grasshoppers. I had contacted the local co-op when we first started having this problem and the lady that I spoke to didn't have a clue.
I feel like I've solved a great mystery, but now how do I solve the problem?
