Hampton Bay touch dimmer - blew 3amp fuse |

I own a Hampton Bay three level touchn dimmer which controls Hampton Bay halogen undermount lighting in a tandom configuration. It has been working fine until I was pounding in a nail too close to a undermount light and it blew the 3 amp fuse in the receptacle for the lights. I have replaced the 3 amp fuse but now the dimmer doesn't work. Anybody familiar with this product or why the dimmer no longer works. Thanks. |

Possible Wiring Problem? |

Potasnj - hi, when you were driving the nail, is it possible you drove it through the wiring that connects the dimmer to the lighting? Have you tried pulling out the nail to see if the dimmer would then work? Without knowing how your wiring runs (concealed or exposed), I'm guessing the wiring may have been damaged. If not, then the dimmer may have been damaged when the fuse blew. I wouldn't think driving a nail near a fixture would cause a fuse to blow unless something caused a short circuit condition. I don't know if this helps or not. Good luck! Jim D/West Point, VA |

What fuse did you use as a replacement? |

I am having a similar issue. The spec on the casing (model EE 081 66170/06) says that the replacement fuse should be rated at 3.15 amp / 120V. It doesn't seem to be a stock size (5mm x 20mm). Did you find something comparable or just use a standard 3 amp fast blow?
I bought this dimmer unit at ********** but their website no longer shows the item.
I find in interesting that the power supply itself says that it is only rated at 1.85 amps. |
