Believe it or not, the previous owners installed the living room floor so that it is about 1.5" HIGHER than the kitchen floor, which is why I am even considering the "plywood atop cermaic tile" option. Was concerned about the grip when I nail the plywood through ceramic, ceramic shattering, etc.
