HI T. I have been playing around for several years and collecting tools. Work always took me away from my projects and I retired about a year ago. Still have a house project to finish which takes up a considerable amount of time.
I have taken a number of courses with different people but have not been steady.
I really like the furniture you build and was directed here by Neil's site. Thank you Neil. Look forward to seeing the new project. |

Hey there. Here's a picture of one of my projects. Nothing in the Federal era...yet!
Thanks,

Dave,
That is a beautiful clock. Perfect proportions, great details and execution. Great finish.
Can you share how you went about this? Was this a reproduction of a specific piece or did you design it based on how you wanted it?
I have never done any block/shell work but hopefully will get a chance to sometime.
Awesome work. Cal |

Tommy,
A little nervous to say so, but count me in. Hopefully it can be snuck in under the radar as there is a huge to-do list in the way.

Thanks guys. Yes, the clock is of the Newport style, circa 1770. It's modeled after the picture in The New Fine Points of Furniture, page 135. The instruction on the project came from Randall O'Donnell. The finish was a Lockwoods-No. 45, transtint and shellac. We filled (or tried to fill) the pours with several coats of shellac. (around 30 or so)
Thanks again,
Dave
PS- I think that this was my 4th or 5th shell before I was happy with it. |

Your clock looks amazing Dave. I like those finials on the top (I think thats what they're called). Anyways, welcome to the forum, you're going to love it here.
