Hey Man, welcome to the forum!
You're kinda in the same bought as me.... I build mostly kitchens or whatever somebody wanted me to do. I'm having a blast getting into fine furniture construction and this is the place to hang out and learn about it.... there's a ton talented people here
Good idea about the shipping Tommy, way to help a brotha out

I would love to do a Queen Anne or Chippendale forum project! I'm not a huge Federal fan. My 2 Cents...

yeah..maybe next time we can do a cool little chip project....but for this one...its all about introducing new people into our craft..it is a very simple design but dont let it fool you ...you can make it easy or very difficult for yourself...it can be fun for a newbie or a guy who wants to bring a kid into the shop....or it can be wicked -wicked haaaahd through dove tails in hard maple- ash -1/4 white oak are not easy..... pretty fun in cherry or mo hog-maybe walnut..... doable for a newbie in pine or poplar ...i know you guys really want to see what i have cooken....but like i said ...i wanna see some project pledges....make them fun!!! |

Hey all thanks for the welcome... It has been a busy weekend for me and I am looking to put in a call to Florida for a wood shipment tomorrow. I can't remember the amounts of wood needed for the crazy leg table (still want to do it even if it is late)....can someone help with that?
For instance how much Mahogany and Poplar...
I would also like a heads up on amount of wood for the next project as I would like to place the order now.
Sorry if this sounds strange but living here...(Neil I live on the Island of St. Croix and have been to all of those places and more, feel free to contact me if you need some guidance.) calls for advanced planning always.
I am excited about participating and maybe SWMBO won't question the tools if I produce something that she likes. hehe.
Ciao,

Wood Amounts |

Hey David
I got all the primary wood for the table out of one piece of 8/4, 7 feet long and 11 1/2 wide... but I had to resaw it to get the 4/4 parts.... I don't know if you have that capability... I hope this gives you an idea.... for the poplar I'm just using bits and pieces that I already have but maybe 4-6 bdft would be more than enough.... I'd get more, poplar is cheap and its a pretty common secondary wood to use.... but I can understand that you probably want to keep your shipping costs down as well...
Don't know about the next project... it's supposed to be something for everyone, and easily done in a weekend... I bet anything you have around the shop will work... check with T-Mac though... I don't think this one will need mohog or fancy stuff.

Tommy, I stumbled on to your web site last week and have taken the time to view your past episodes...nice job. 2 things, if you still need additional names to add to your next project list add me in, and what type of finish are you planning for the bombe chest? |

Hey andrew thought you might like to see this, its a small chippendale inspired display case. I wanted to figure out the glazing bars, glass, and dentil without building an entire library case. |
