My wife and I plan on building a home by ourselves in the next year. We are very interested in icfs. We have found a company called VARIANTHOUSE which sells icfs made with neopor. Has anyone any information on what neopor is and how it is better than regular eps? Are there any other companys in the florida area which sell neopor or icfs?

Did you build this house? I am preparing to do the same thing, and I would love to have some input.

This probably won't answer your current question, but I thought I would add my two cents about the ICF home system.

We had great fun and luck working with the ARXX system. This was the first time building an ICF home even though we are seasoned custom builders.
The system went together with a snap (sorry for the pun). We had our homes walls done within a two day period.

The biggest hangup we encountered was the city building department. Even though the plans were engineered, it took them months to OK our permits because they had no idea what ICF was.

The education process was a long one for the beauracrats. Yet we perservered and have loved our concrete home for many years.
