Interior door doesn't fit after carpet installation!

10/21/2008 01:15 AM rjahoo7

When we bought our home several years ago we took off the door that closed off the stairway up and carpeted (easier for the kids!) Now my kids are gone and I'd like to put the door back on, but it's too tight because of the carpet. Is there a way that I can 'shave' the door just the minute amount that it needs, or do I have to buy a new door? It is wood, and I believe it's hollow...

Thanks!

Hello, most interior door's are hollow, but are constructed with solid wood surround, so you should be able to cut the panel down. Be careful with a planer, i use a saw.
