Jenn Air Oven door

01/08/2006 04:58 PM ACD

Doesn't close properly, sometimes the light will stay on unless you push the door in and hold it a few seconds, but if you close a cabinet door near it the light will come back on. It is a Jenn Air single wall oven model JJW9530CAB. Any idea on how to adjust it, and is there a way to clean behind the face galss?

Oven door hinges?

** Doesn't close properly, sometimes the light will stay on unless you push the door in and hold it a few seconds **

That could be caused by 'weak' door hinge springs or possibly a 'stiff' oven door seal.

** Any idea on how to adjust it **

If the hinge springs have lost their tension, the hinges (which come with the springs) would likely need to be replaced. The type of hinges used on your model range (see the following link) don't usually have much (if any) kind of 'adjustment' that can be made but someone would actually have to look at them to see.

** is there a way to clean behind the face glass? **

the face glass... of the oven door I assume? The door should be able to be disassembled to clean the interior of the glasses. You can see an exploded parts view of your model at the following link:

It is fairly new

Has done it from day one. The only time it will close fully is when doing the self cleaning and the automatic door lock closes the door. It is like the hinges are not set right, the tension seems ok. When you push in the top of the door, it springs back about 1/2" did this from day one. Could it havbe been wrenched in shipping?

Warranty?

That *might* be a possibility but if so, I don't know how it would be corrected.

Since it was like that from "day one", did you have it looked at under warranty??

Warranty

It is still under warranty, and I submitted a question into Maytag on this, and waiting on a response. I posted this at the same time I submitted the service request.

Warranty service

** It is still under warranty, and I submitted a question into Maytag **

No need to 'submit a question', if the product is in warranty and is not functioning properly, just call a authorized servicer (see the following link) for service.

- Maytag Service Locator (Maytag owns Jenn-Air and provides product support)

BTW. I suggest you call a *local* company if possible rather than someone at an 800 number (see the following link).

Thanks

I submitted a question as to the hinge adjustments to see if it is something I can do myself instead of having to take time off to have someone come in to do it.

Serive

** I submitted a question as to the hinge adjustments **

If it isn't mentioned in the owner's manual they wouldn't likely be able to tell you anyway. They don't usually give out any kind of service information, just the common sense stuff (eg. "make sure the oven racks are not hitting the door", etc.).

When you do eventually find out the problem, let us know if you can. Maybe it will help others whom might come across your messages.

OK

01/10/2006 02:50 PM ACD

I am going to take it apart this weekend and see just what is up with it now that I have the parts breakout. I need to get the inside glass cleaned up anyway, looks like crap from all the construction dust and stuff.

Be careful what you do to an appliance while its under warranty. You could void any remaining warranty.
