** I dont think cleaning the door will be covered under warranty! **

No it wouldn't but if the service depot has to take the door apart to check the hinges, they might give you a couple of minutes to wipe down the glass while the door is still apart???

My point was, doing ANY service to the appliance yourself has potential to void its warranty. But it's up to you.

Jenn Air Oven Door

12/06/2006 09:32 PM dhhypr

I'm experiencing the same problem on my Jenn Air in wall JJW8530DDS oven door. Won't stay shut pops open about 1/2 inch light stays on, very frustrating. The door seal looks bad even though it's only 3 years old. I've ordered a new seal; however I feel that the tension on the door hinges is not sufficient. Is there any site to get additional if to see if there is a recall or work around to correct this problem.

** oven door won't stay shut **

That is a common failure on most makes of ranges and ovens.

** Jenn Air [wall oven] JJW8530DDS. Is there any site to get additional if to see if there is a recall or work around to correct this problem. **

"Recalls" occur for safety related issues only. Maytag should be able to tell you if there's any rework program for your model if you contact them with the model and serial numbers. There is no web site that provides that information AFAIK.

same problem closing wall oven door

12/17/2006 07:57 PM aimlex

I am having the same problem. Oven door won't stay shut. We had a technician come out but he was of no help. We are out of warranty now so I am afraid to have to pay for a $400 visit. Any suggestions on how to correct the problem?

Someone will need to look into it.

Very few jobs I can imagine would cost $400 to perform.

Besides actually looking into it to try to determine the cause the same way a technician would? I'm afraid not.

It might just have worn hinges, overstretched springs or worn hinge receivers (if used on whatever model of appliance you have). Someone is going to actually need to look into it to isolate the cause in your case.

Been a while but.....

I finally got around to pulling the unit out to look at. I found out what the problem is, but not sure if getting replacement receivers will correct it. The box that the hinges clip onto have 3 rivets pins that are used to support the door. They loosen up over time and get sloppy. I did find that there is some sort of service bulletin on this situation, but cannot locate it to get the details. It is Maytag TDC-0017B-B. Supposedly there is a replacement hinge set part #12002111, but at $44 each and not knowing for sure if it is for my oven model, I am reluctant to spring for it. Any ideas on where to find the TSB?

I temporarily fixed it by taking the hinge boxes to the work bench and smacking the pins with a setting tool, seems to have tightened the door up a bit, but the alignment of the pins is what is wrong, the top pin should be set back just a bit to provide the proper tension on the spring to keep the door closed, Either that or use a tighter spring in the hinge.

Door hinge kit 12002111

You should be able to get a copy of the service bulletin from Maytag/Whirlpool. And yes, it is applicable to Jenn-Air oven model JJW9530CAB.

You can see what is supplied in the kit at the following link:

- Door Hinge Kit # 12002111

Not Each

** but at $44 each **

BTW. The one kit appears to contain both (2) door hinges and hinge receivers.

Jenn-Air Oven Door

12/26/2007 07:29 PM Bill124

I too have the JJW 9630DDS and am also having a problem with the bottom door not sealing properly. Definitely makes a difference in the cooking. Had this serviced a year or 2 ago but now it's a problem again. Only realize it during holidays when we use the bottom oven. Does the "fix" apply to this model number? Also, is there any internet posting available for the fix that might be used to suggest to Jenn-Air that this is a problem that they should take care of instead of having to pay 149 plus parts to fix?

Thanks very much for the great wealth of knowledge you provide.
