** I too have the JJW9630DDS **
Too? I don't see where anyone has posted about that particular model in this message thread.
** Does the "fix" apply to this model number? **
I do not believe so but we'll also need the appliance's serial number to identify the proper parts for it.

Did a temp fix. |

I found what the main issue is with these hinges. the pocket is bend steel with rivets used for the hinge pins. they loosen up and cause the door to not close. I took them out and stuck them in a vise and tightened them up a bit with a hammer, but it only drew the door in a little bit, it seems as though the hinge pins need to be set back a bit at the top to the spring tension can keep the door closed. In the mean time I jammed the door switch in so I can use the convection oven and keep that darn light off. Works ok, but I want it to work RIGHT! I am going to order that kit when I get a chance at home to sit by the computer and do some shopping. |

Door / Door Light |

Thanks very much. My door light is off but there clearly is more space between the door and the oven frame on my bottom oven than on my top. We thought it was the gasket so we removed it temporarily but it did absolutely nothing. In fact, in the case of the bottom door as compared to the top door, there is actually slightly more space between the door and the frame at the bottom of the door where the hinge attaches to the frame. That space just gets wider as you go to the top of the door.
I have a service appointment scheduled for tomorrow but now not sure if I should cancel it if my light is in fact off and it's just spacing. What do you experts think?
Also, does anyone have a paper copy of this service bulletin or can point me to where to get it to see if it actually covers my oven? Would love to be able to push Jenn-Air into accepting some responsibility for this.

When I was researching the hinges I came across a few complaint sites and whoa were there a bunch of door issues where the entire door just fell right off when they opened it. A few had them happen right after the hinges were repaired. It seemed to affect the double ovens mostly, so just beware of that when you have it serviced. I remember when Jenn-Air meant something, now after my experiences with their cooktop and oven, I will never buy another maytag appliance again. We replaced the cooktop with a Gagenau and never looked back. |

Door hinge |

Thanks. We had these same guys to the house a year or two (probably two) ago to address the problem. This time I actually spent more time looking at the door and noticed the extra spacing at the bottom right where the door meets the hinge (again, this is in comparison to the top oven door). It only makes sense that when you extrapolate that space to the top of the door, it makes for more space at the top. If they don't reduce that space, I won't pay.
Be sure of this: if my door falls off after the service, the service company and not me will be fixing at THEIR cost or they will be in court with me in the very near future. I have sued for less.
