Kenmore 110 won't spin or wash

11/26/2007 08:34 PM rrangel9824

When I was doing a load of laundry the washer would fill up but would not wash or spin but it will drain also. When it is set for it to spin or wash it just makes a loud noise as if its stuck and won't turn. Some friends have told me it could be the agitator or the transmission. if anyone can please help. My question really is do i need a part or would it be better to ge t a new washer.......

Model Number??

** Kenmore 110 [washer] **

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number ("110" is only the very first part of it and "Series 60", 70, 80 or 90 isn't it either)..

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

- Model Number Tag Search

** washer would fill up but would not wash or spin but it WILL drain **

If whatever model washer you have is one of Whirlpool's 'direct drive' washer designs, I would speculate the motor coupler might have broken.

Coupler

** Model 110.91566200 **

That is a Whirlpool built 'direct drive' model in which case my previous suggestion of a broken motor coupler stands.

MOTOR

Is that difficult to replace? Expensive? Would it be better to replace and fix or get new one?

If you look at the "Direct Drive Motor Coupler" link I supplied in my very first message, you can get an exact idea of what is entailed in that job and then decide if it is something you think you are capable of doing. That's why I supplied it originally.
