Kenmore HE3 Dryer will not start

11/06/2007 10:11 PM achin1

I read the topic but I've no idea on how to remove the front control panel to find the thermal fuse. As for the back panel, I guess the belt is back there somewhere. If I had an instruction manual on how to remove the cover and repair the dryer, it would make life easier. How do you locate the parts and remove the panels?

Model Number??

** Kenmore HE3 Dryer **

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number ("HE3" isn't it).

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

- Model Number Tag Search
LINK > www.appliance411.com/parts/tagsearch.cgi

** I've no idea on how to remove the front control panel to find the thermal fuse. **

A thermal fuse isn't usually located in the control panel, it's usually inside the dryer cabinet on the heater or blower housing... depending on dryer model.

Thermal fuse location

** Kenmore HE3 dryer model number 110.82822101 **

That model was made for Sears by Whirlpool and should be similar to Whirlpool's Duet machine.

The thermal fuse on that model is on the blower fan housing which would be behind the front lower access panel.

** If I had an instruction manual on how to remove the cover and repair the dryer, it would make life easier. **

I don't know if Sears has service manuals for each of their models but the one for Whirlpool Duet dryers at the following link should be very close to the machine you have.

Will not start?

Your original message title said, "dryer will not start". Did you maybe mean the dryer will only run *while the start button is pressed*? That is the most common symptom of an Even Heat control system failure.

Checking needed

11/10/2007 03:16 AM DanO Moderator

That could be caused by a failed thermal fuse, problem in the door switch, problem with the 'broken belt switch', a broken belt, a problem in the electronic control or even just not the proper power getting to the dryer.

BTW. Your dryer doesn't use an Even Heat control board like the link you posted talks about.
