I'm running 6 low voltage "puck" type lights under my kitchen counters. They are 12VAC 20watts each.
I'm using a magnetic 200W 12VAC transformer.
The lights will be switched on/off, there won't be a dimmer.
The lights will be placed in three physically separate areas, but all on one circuit. In one area, I will have a single light, in another, 3 lights, and another, 2 lights. I can't just loop the wire from light to light as there is a stove, sink and other "gaps" which prevent this.
I could "home run" three pairs of 10 or 12 gauge stranded wire back to the transformer.
But I'm considering running 12/2 bx in a loop from the transformer to three Jbox's (daisy chained) that will be located in the ceiling above each "drop" - where the lights will be located. From each of these Jboxes, I was going to run 10 or 12 gauge stranded wire down to the lights. I figure the benefit of 12/2 bx is it will minimize voltage drop plus it's shielded.
Anyone have an opinion on this? Or any experience with low voltage kitchen lighting?
