According to some other poster, if you removed it, it would start working. I figured this would be a way to test it. No. The lid switch MUST be functioning (closing its contacts) before the washer will operate. When it fails, its contacts remain open and thus the problem... which would be the same as with the switch removed from the circuit. BTW.
