MDF Wood

12/23/2001 05:03 PM jomalley

I have been using MDF (medium density fiberboard) for many of my interior molding projects (doors, windows, chair rails, crown, window sills, etc.). I usually buy 3/4" x 12" x 8' and just rip what I need. It has worked quite well.

I am looking for any stores/manufacturer that sell MDF 5/4" thick (I do not care about width or length, I can just rip it if it only comes in 4x8 sheets). In the past, I have usee my router on 5/4" pine for molding headers on my window and doors, but I would prefer MDF. It is easier to work with, smoother finish, no knots and easy to paint. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Many thanks, JJ
