Mastic or Construction Adhesive?

02/02/2002 08:20 PM Ledge

I was just curious as to if one could use Construction adhesive in place of mastic? It was just a question I had and I could not find anyone to give me a good answer why not to use construction adhesive. Thanks in advance.

Dear Ledge,
It depends upon the application.

I guess that would help, sorry about that. I am tiling a backsplash in my kitchen and both of my bathrooms.

Mastic or Construction Adhesive?

Dear Ledge,
I've used construction adhesive for tile repair, but if you are installing the backsplash new, you'd be better off using a thin set mortar and grouting, then sealing the tile.
