Metal, rectanglur heating duct connections

12/02/2007 04:40 PM augiedog1

How do you "make up" or connect together two metal, rectanglur heating ducts together? The ducts are strait 3 1/4' X 12" sheet metal heat / A.C. ducts. Also could you please tell me what materials I need.

Thanks

When ducts are made properly, they have bent ends that allow one duct to slide into another and channels that slide over bent edges at the sides, called cleat slides and drives to keep them together.
Look in the catalog for them:

Or else on larger commercial duct, there are special fittings to fasten the duct into the joining pieces between duct sections.

Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made.
