Mid - Atlantic Job

06/28/2007 02:08 PM Fkexinator

Well, I hate for my first post to be a complaint but I'm a bit unhappy with Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing....They have just installed their four wall system in my cape. Now the system appears to be working BUT what I went through during the job is unacceptable.

My first question to the MAW sales rep was "do you use contractors to install this system"...His answer was a clear NO. Sure enough the first day a guy pulls up with the name of his contracting business displayed all over his truck. You would never know Mid-Atlantic was there to do the job.
The funny thing is that when I asked the Mid-Atlantic sales rep about why a contractor was there he said that guy only does work for Mid-Atlantic. When the job was done the contractor gave me his personal business card(not related to or any mention of Mid-Atlantic on card)for any other work I might want done on the house.

Next the MAW rep said they only use river rock and he was very proud that they're the only company that use river rock to fill around the ADS tubing. Sure enough the contractor pulls up the next day with 3/4 blue stone. When I asked the contractor he laughed....He actually laughed and said "yea...what else did they tell you"...."we never use river rock" and proceeded to tell me how they used it on one job several years ago and that was only one because that the water had a lot of silt and assured me I didn't need it. They also reduced the price a bit.
Other issues....Busted a sewer line. Didn't tell me until I went down and asked him about it...They fixed it however. They probably didn't tell me because nobody on the job site spoke English when it happened.

Did not completely turn off gas line.
One of the things they were going to do was shut off gas to the stove in the basement and remove the stove. Well at the end of the first day I went to the basement to lock up and smelled gas. The contractor was already gone so I had to have the local gas company to come out and the tech said whoever shut this off didn't know what they were doing....He also said that he should have capped the line and that I was lucky that I smelled it when I did.

Other issues....clay and dirt thrown up against washing machine.

And another....There are two drains in the basement floor that go to the sewer. I showed these to the Mid-Atlantic contractor and he said that he will cover them up so no debris from the job goes down there....These drains have these big square metal grates laying on top to catch any large debris from falling in. Yesterday I thought I'd lift um up and take a look. I couldn't believe what I saw. these drains are filled with debris from the job...wet cement and stone. Haven't even called about this yet.

Last one...The sump discharge looks horrible. The best solution this guy could come up with was straight white 1 1/2" PVC draining into the middle of my front lawn. This is such an eyesore.

I have someone else coming out to give me a better solution.

All I can say is that I'd never recommend these guys to anyone. Don't get me wrong their system seems to be working but it was too much BS and poor sales practices and tactics.

Again I hate this to be my first post but i felt this needed to be brought up. I haven't complained to the BBB yet but this last issue with the drain I just found yesterday may change my mind.
