Norm and I live in New Orleans (Katrina Land) and are considering a modular home because the cost of a traditional stick built home has SKYROCKETED!!! I did some research on this site and found Bob Vila recommends Simplex (I think this is the correct name) but they do not build in our area. How do I go about finding a quality company? I have checked only one nolahomebuilder.com based on a recommendation, but don't want waste money on low quality and I am unsure what to watch out for can anyone help? |

In response to your question about higher quality modular housing in the Gulf Coast, I would recommend that you call Phoenix Home Solutions and get a intial quote/consultation. We are a local company, serving the region and we can do custom modular construction as well; this just meant that we can make adjustments to existing stock floor plans, or even build a home with modular construction using your plans that you've obtained from an architect. We compete with the traditional construction companies as our homes are not cheaply made, like some of the modular firms in the area. That was the problem before the storm, because of cheap housing that cannot withstand any weather difficulties.
For some local perspective, Bob Giardano on WWL is having his home built by Phoenix, and if you would like to visit with us in an environment where you can compare companies please visit us at the Gulf Coast Rebulding Expo at the Convention center on the 20th through the 22nd. If not using us, I'm sure you would find someone there to help you with your housing problem.
Thanks,
Jana

I have researched all the initial modular companies in the New Orleans area. I went with a company called Private Label Homes. He used to be with nola home builders as one of their architects I think. My home will be delivered this week in Lakeview. It's a showpiece! They are very attentive to detail and quality. It's not like any of the modulars I've seen. And the price was good. They are a very good company and familiar with all the codes for our area as well as modular specifics for your actual property. Their number is 599-5962. |
