Moen Faucet ruining R/O Membrane?

01/13/2006 05:16 AM rancar

I have an R/O system in kitchen, and a Moen faucet. House is 10.5 yrs old, and faucet was replaced about 4 yrs ago with same due to leakage. Every year when I have R/O serviced, I am told membrane is shot (should last appx. 5 yrs.). I have a Kinetico water softener, but due to high service cost, pulled the Kinetico R/O and replaced with one from Aqua Science. Turns out my membrane is getting ruined within a few months due to my Moen faucet, according to the serviceman. Seems the hot water is constantly getting into the R/O, eating the membrane by changing the holes. He showed me that even when the faucet is off, hot water is going into the R/O. Supposedly this happens only with this certain Moen faucet and a Grohe(?) brand. I'm tired of paying for a new membrane all the time, and because this faucet is leaking again, have decided to change it, although I like the one arm, pull out to spray design. I really can't afford to do this again, buy a faucet and pay a plumber to replace it. The faucet is also leaking down its piping into the cabinet underneath and has already warped the wood before I found it out. Has anyone had this experience? It seems others in my neighborhood would have had this problem, but no success finding anyone yet. My bathroom Moen faucets have frozen up also. Moen is sending replacements, but I still have to pay for install. Any opinions out there?
