Mold Behind Wallboard

10/05/2004 07:22 PM alwasl8

I am working on a bathroom, removing wallpaper, patching up then painting. While removing wallpaper, I found some mold spots. What is the best method of treating/fixing this? The wallpaper has been up for over 20 years and I really do not want to tear out the wallboard. I do not believe there is a leak or anything like that. Help.

best way is to gut the room.
and spray dilluted bleach on the framing. the framing could be worse with mold.

Sorry I missed your post. It has been some time ago you posted. Anyway, clean the wall with a disinfecting solution 1-part bleach to 9 parts water. Paint with a quality stain-blocking primer and finish as desired. You really don't need to gut this room.
