Mounting Heavy Mirror

10/21/2001 06:02 PM mdr123

I am trying to hang a 75lb mirror onto a brick wall. I have 100lb gauge wire (doubled), heavy-duty hooks and mason nails. But, I'm still afraid that it's going to fall. Do the mason nails go directly into the brick or the cement in between? Is there a safe way to do this?

Hi mdr123,
I wouldn't suggest masonary nails for this situation.Visit your nearest hardware store and explain what you're doing. There are a number of masonary anchors available. You'll also need a drill and a masonary or carbide drill bit. You'll sleep better with an anchor.
