Moving Dryer 25 Feet

11/05/2007 08:10 PM saltponder

I wish to move my clothes dryer to the floor directly above. I figure I will be splicing about 25 feet of 10/3 wire to make the connection. My concern is the total length. It is hard to tell exactly how long the existing run is, but I am guessing about 50-60 feet.

Can I safely add 25 feet of 10/3 for a total of approx. 75 feet, or should I be adding 8/3 instead? I am sure hoping I do not have to run a total length of 8/3 wire!

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Splice must be made in an accessile junction box. You can't bury itinside a wall.
The extra 25' will be a problem. You could easily go 150' feet with no problem.
