Moving a Gas Line?

12/20/2007 10:45 AM jmooreusarmy

I am about to remodle my kitchen, and in that process I have to move my gas line for my stove 6-8 feet....with that being said will this be an easy task? If someone has done this before, please give me some tips.....or a way to get some info....

Thank you,

James M.

moving gas line

In my experience, it's very possible.

I have done this a couple of times - well, with a plumber's help.

I think one issue that most newbies don't consider is that gas fittings are very specialized - they might look the same, but leak. That's why I recommend a plumber. And just moving a few feet probably won't be a big deal - unless you put in a new stove that puts out higher btus.

I can't really recommend this as a DIY project - but I do think you'll be pleased with the results - just my opinion. If you haven't alread done so, try the Plumbing forum...good luck.
