I am having a new home built. I dislike red brick and told my mason I'd rather have grey brick. He said he didn't think there was such a thing. I don't want to see red brick from either outside or from the family room looking at the fireplace. I need suggestions. Is there such a thing as grey brick?

Try this URL (there are many more - search on "brick manufacturers") They show brown, tan and grey colors, as well as reds and oranges. http://www.richtex.com/products/design/index.html There are 2 brick manufacturers in my area. Both have brochures and display areas for their products. Check your yellow pages. Also, the fireplace brick INSIDE the fireplace is often painted black, regardless of the actual brick color. (My fireplace brick is a yellowish color, while the outside brick is red.) [This message has been edited by rpxlpx (edited November 01, 2000).] |

You're builder is confusing the liner bricks with the exterior bricks. If you are getting a zero-clearance fireplace, you can put anything you want on the exterior! - my fireplace has brownish-gray bricks. |
