Must I use red brick for chimney and fireplace?

Try this URL (there are many more - search on "brick manufacturers") They show brown, tan and grey colors, as well as reds and oranges.

There are 2 brick manufacturers in my area. Both have brochures and display areas for their products. Check your yellow pages.

Also, the fireplace brick INSIDE the fireplace is often painted black, regardless of the actual brick color. (My fireplace brick is a yellowish color, while the outside brick is red.)
