I plan to install 3/4" oak hardwood in my living room and dining room. The subfloor is 5/8" plywood with 2x8 16" span joist. I am going to nail down 3/4" hardwood to the subfloor directly since 5/8" plywood subfloor meets the minimum subfloor requirement. Am I right? Second question, When I nail down the 3/4" hardwood to the subfloor, should I nail to the joist or avoid it?
