New addition

Our home is a typical ranch style with attached two-car garage. We recently constructed a pole garage and I wished to renovate the attached garage to living space. My thoughts were to have a stone fireplace and I thought it would look nice to have a 9-foot ceiling (in contrast to 8-foot ceilings in the original house). We also needed to raise the floor to the height of the existing house. Our carpenter just completed the shell of the project and the inside looks great. However, the view from the highway is another story. The house looks rather like a houseboat. The cost to lower the ceiling would be tremendous; the cost to raise the rest of the house would be worse. I thought that the 1 ft. of height difference would not be noticable. I was wrong, make a bad call, and am really disappointed with our project. Do you have any recommendations on how I can hide the extra 1-foot of height?

Plant trees in front of it.

Did you not do plans and elevation drawings first?

Excellence is its own reward!
