I recently installed a set of oak steps in my home. A couple of the treads are a little short (less than 1/16") and there is a small gap between the step and the wall. The steps are enclosed by walls on both sides. I have tried wood putty as a filler but I'm not sure I like it that well. Any other suggestions on how to fill the gaps?
