I recently polyurethaned my floors following all the correct procedures. When I applied the poly, there was low humidity and the temps. were around 70 deg. A week or so after I applied the last coat the weather became very humid with temps. in the upper 80s. I then noticed that there were many small bubbles of poly oozing out of the joints separating the floor boards and these proceeded to harden and as the weather stayed hot and humid, more bubbles appeared, but it appears that they have run their course. In a test section of the floor I have scraped and hand sanded with 220 grit paper and I am now ready to varish again.
Does anyone have an idea as to why this happened? My guess is that when the hot and humid weather arrived, the boards swelled, forcing the poly out of the cracks. I would like to know if it is okay to poly again now or wait for early fall when the heat and humidity is gone.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |
