Old Barn Remodeling

11/17/2004 09:47 PM mashmom47

My son lives in Portland, Oregon and wants to remodel a barn that stands about 10-12 stories high and consists of two floors. I don' want just an every day type of book. I am trying to find some books that are very unique, interesting and show a wide variety of remodeling styles with several architectural designs. He has a lot of ideas already and I thought a really good book would motivate him even more. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you.

Barn remodeling.....try your local library

11/20/2004 04:19 PM k2

Hi Mashmom,

Definitely try your local library for this. (My wife works at a library and gets interesting questions all day long.)

They are great resources, and the price is right!

Since it sounds like you need to purchase one for you son, you can find books you like this way, then buy or order them through a bookstore....good luck!

P.S., your son should get on this board; perhaps even put some pictures here. Sounds like a very cool--if ambitious--undertaking!

Regards,

Yankee Barn Homes...

11/22/2004 05:56 AM Jim D

MashMom - hi, my wife and I had obtained some literature from a place called Yankee Barn Homes in the past. They design and build homes of various sizes/shapes that appear to be New England-style barns on the outside. I know they have a website and you can probably locate it quickly using Google or another search engine. They do sell books as I recall, including some design-type books. Their homes are very nice - and a bit pricey, but that's to be expected. If you can't locate them on the Web, please post back and I'll try looking for them. (My literature is at home and I live away from home during the work week...I wouldn't be able to locate the literature and post back until at least Thanksgiving Day...) I hope this helps some - regards! Jim D/West Point, VA
