Old Masking Tape on Aluminum Windows

09/26/2005 07:07 AM Churchmouse

I am working on a house that was painted 2 - 3 years ago. They put regular masking tape on the aluminum windows (outside) before painting, but never removed the tape. I have tried "Oops" and "Goo Gone" to get the tape and crud off. I have most of the tape off, but some is still on there, and there remains the yellowish tape 'glue' afterwards. A neighbor gave me some Dylene (not sure of the spelling or exact name), but that didn't work any better. Any ideas?

I have the same problem and have not had any success as yet. My final two attempts will be with Avon Skin So Soft, and if that fails, I'll try the bug/tar remover I use on my car. Good luck.

You can use what is called MEK that can be bought at H.D. or Lowes.
