I am looking for some help on building a set of stairs. I can't seem to figure out the angle at which to cut my 2x12s so they match up with the top of the deck and ground.
I have my rise and run figured but am lost when it comes to cutting the top and bottom of the stringer so it will fit.

Total vertical height 65"
7 1/4" rise and a 11 3/4" run.
total # steps = 9

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanx!

If you are replacing an old set of stairs, you can copy the cuts from the old 2 x 12 supports.

You have two choices. Get a high schooler to help you with the math (hint: it involves pythagoris and geometry). Figure out the three sides. Then figure the angles.

The second choice is to buy a framing square. It will give you the exact angle and you don't even need to know degrees.

Since you already seem to know the rise, run, and number of steps, it appears that all you lack is, building the stair.
You do not need to know any angles.
If you do not have a framing square, I would suggest you buy one. ( get a good one, with all the tables along both sides of the toungue and blade ).-
Also, if you are not familar with the use of a framing square, make sure you get one with a set of instructions on it's use.
