Oven Broiler

01/27/2005 01:22 PM RKingV

Recently moved into a different home, with a newer, electric, non self cleaning oven. To use the broiler, the manual says to crack open the oven door to the first stop, about 3-4 inches. Tried it once and it filled the house with smoke, as the exhaust hood could not keep up. Also,it has a vent on the stove top, thru one of the burners. Anyway around this smoke, or what would happen if I kept the oven door closed when using the broiler.
