Owens Corning Basement System - Paintable?

05/11/2004 12:16 AM MystikMama

Hi... I just saw a commercial about the Owens Corning basement finishing system, and it looks great... I'm just wondering if the surfaces are paintable like regular drywall? Anyone have any experience with this product? Thanks!

Paintable Panels NOT Needed BFS Owens

You do not need to paint the Owens Corning BFS Panels. This is due to their construction. First, the panel is Owens Corning, Commercial grade panels, very durable and resilient. The cloth layer that covers the panels is made of Polyoflin which has 12 different colors of strands within the fibers, so it takes on the color of your decor and furniture, kinda like a Chamelion. The fibers are even coated with teflon tm for easy cleaning.

The main benefits of this BFS are serious noise reduction, not sound proofing, easy care, very quick installation, and Mainly, the systems does not rot and does not harbor mold and mildew. If you have an existing humidity or leak problem in your basement you may need to care for that prior to installation, or install a dedicated dehumidifier.

Every basement is different and may or may not allow for this system, but figure your local construction cost for the finished room with this system, also who ever your local Owens Corning BFS dealer is will price all the basic room less flooring.

Hope this helps.
