Dana,we have white oak hardwood in our 1820
Federal style home(built in 1985).We have 4 sons, dogs, you name it.The kids used to sit on their "Bigwheel" and throw balls for the dog and hold onto her collar as she chased the ball.Or the time the oldest had his younger brthrs. on a plastic snow dish and was launching them down a VERY FORMAL main
staircase, laughing and giggling all the while.
They have spilled every drink and foodstuff known to man on our beautiful floors. My advice,is WAX.Hard plastic type finishes will not stand up to serious abuse.Wax on the other hand is such that it dosen't really scratch, but kinda just "rubs".
Oh yeah and the wife and I get our laughs when we wax twice a year and watch as the boys slip and slide. We enjoy the character marks and the very occasional maintenance.
