Hello,
I'm a first time homeowner with a 105 year old colonial...the kitchen floor is presently a vinyl sheet in bad shape over plywood. I know there is a pine floor this but I wonder if ripping up the plywood will get me into potential trouble. There may be older asbestos flooring below.
My questions are: is it possible to carefully and safely do this, and how, and would the pine floors be easy to restore?

Duchess......That is the most interesting part in remodeling- you never know what you are going to find. Me? I go for it. I can tear the world apart with a prybar and sledge hammer. As for the pine floor- It depends on the condition of the floor after you remove everything else. It could be almost perfect, or, you could end up with a whole new floor.
