Hi there. I am a Girl Scout Troop Leader in South Louisiana and am responsible for a talent show that several GS troops will participate in during the month of April 2002. The problem is that we need a stage for performances. I have searched and searched for some sort of basic FREE plans or instructions on how to construct one, but have been unlucky in my attempts. The stage should be no larger than 14x10 and 1 foot 'tall'. We will have the neccassary material donated, so that isn't the problem. I have a few Dad's and Mom's dedicated to constructing this as soon as I locate a plan. It also needs to have some sort of 'curtain' system, either attached or detached from the stage itself, but that still can be opened and closed as needed and appx. 10 foot tall. Any help, suggestions, plans, ideas.....anything...is greatly appreciated as we are trying to please 300 little girls. Thanks in ADVANCE !!! |

Hi SHELLEYMC622, Wow - Sadly to say, the first thing I think about is law suit. Seriously, I'd feel bad if it was 'my fault'. I suggest you have it built by Pros. Or, hire 1 or 2 to 'guide' you in the least. W/O knowing EXACTLy how the stage is being used, I think you'd get little help off of the WEB. A stage, like any platform, is built on how it's used. I don't think it would be 'safe' to have a non-expert deciding how a safe stage would be built (and I'm referring to you or someone that would actually 'say' that the plans you receive are OK to use.) See what I mean? Hiring a couple of Pros during the design and building stages would be $$$ well spent when it comes to kids. My best to ya and hope this helps. I suggest you use deck plans. There are plenty of those around, and they are "tried and true". The curtain is a separate issue, but should be easy enough to produce. [This message has been edited by rpxlpx (edited September 18, 2001).] |
