Hello,
I recently bought a house in a NorthWest Dallas neigborhood famous for foundation issues. The house has a slab foundation with a 8-10 inch platform over the top. I've heard this is called a "skreeted" foundation or a "hollywood platform" and was a common fad during the 1950's when my house was built. I'm currently dealing with some foundation movement and would like to find material that I can read up on this type of foundation. Why it was used? What is it's purpose? How to maintain it? How can I get rid of the squeeky floor? etc.... Any assistance is appreciated!!!!
Thanks, Dennis in Dallas |
