We are buying a house and becuase we live in the NE we are unable to have the pool inspected due to weather/snow so we asked the sellers for a pool escrow and now they are saying no. They want us to call the pool company they used and speak to the person who closed the pool for the season. Does this seems normal? Is asking for a pool escrow wrong? Please give some advise. We don't want to lose the house but don't want to buy something sight unseen. Also the pool was built in the 70's so it is not a brand new pool there could be numerous things wrong with it. Help!!

It seems as though there could be a lot of things wrong with the pool. Maybe some aren't too expensive while others might break the bank. If you talk to the guy who closed it last summer, get something in writing. See if he'll do that. He might be a relative. Stranger things have happened.

While we're talking about this. When I was looking for a house we really noticed a big difference in price between pool or no pool. It seemed the houses with a pool were much nicer than those without. As we were walking through we were always thinking this is nice for this price. Then you get to the pool. I live in Michigan. I don't need a pool for what amounts to about 3 months of good weather for a pool. By the time the pool has warmed up it seems it's already halfway into June.
