Poor worksmanship or normal occurence?

10/02/2007 10:28 AM wanderingone

Wanted to ask this here too in case someone knows the answer.

We built a modular home. Home was set just over a year ago...we've been in for 10 months. Since Day 1, we've had issues with drywall seams and screw (they're all screws) pops. Not one or two....ceiling seams every 4 feet in some rooms, 40-50 screw pops in some rooms. Both...in every room of the house. I should add that screws are not "popping" out (only a few have slightly)...they're dimples in the walls but very visable.

What's your take? Poor quality/workmanship or is this to be expected? Thanks.

Post an image. give more details.
When you say "we" were you the general contractor? What kind of foundation did you put this on?

Did you contact the manufacturer on day 1, as you said you have had problems since then.

Sorry, should have clarified. No, we were NOT the GC but the issues were brought to the attn of the GC. We ended up with quite a poor working relationship. GC was going to have the manufacturer look into the issues and, instead, we have been working with them directly. I was just simply wondering what would have caused such a thing. Our last home was an on-site built home that we did GC. And, while we dealt with the minor cracks and issues of settling, I have never seen anything quite like this.

Traditional NE, full basement foundation, steal I-beam; same co that installed our first foundation installed this one.

Pic shows 1 wall and repairs made to all "dimple" screw pops.
