Hi BobF, Here's the Poster's other Post: Doors and Windows. I have Spar Marine Varnish on my solid oak, double entry doors. I also have a porch overhang. I get about 3 months of direct sun in the Winter (only). The doors have been in for 4 years now, and are showing just fine. My contractor said that if you can run your finger on the finish and get a 'chalky' residue, then it's time to refinish. When refinishing, he suggested Liquid Sandpaper, and then 2 coatings of the Spar. Sounds too easy for me!!! My best to ya and hope this helps.
