Problem with Washing Machine Spin

03/02/2008 08:42 AM pigletandmolly

Hi Everyone. I'm new to the site and not much of a handyman.

I'm having a problem with our washing machine where the center piece (I believe called the 'agitator') is not spinning properly.

I'de like to at least try to fix myself before calling the big $$$$$ people.

Thanks.

Make/Model Number??

Hi,

** our washing machine **

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its brand name and exact model number.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

- Model Number Tag Search
LINK > www.appliance411.com/parts/tagsearch.cgi

** the 'agitator' is not spinning properly. **

The agitator of a washer is not suppose to "spin". It is suppose to go back and forth. What *exactly* is it doing or not doing?

Many newer washers use a 2-piece agitator. If whatever model you have uses this type, what are each of the separate halves doing?
