Hey guys,
Just thought Id show you where Im at on the table. I started on wed. night and have put about 8 hours into it so far. The instructions Eli gave on how to accurately mark the bottoms on the mortises was great, thanks. |

mortise and tenons |

I dont have a hollow chisel mortiser so I did the mortiser with a router and cleaned them out with a chisel. I think I came down around 1/8" on the top and bottom haunchs and then just eyeballed the centre one. How important is it that the centre haunch be a tight fit in the mortise? (because mine weren't)
Can't wait to see how everyone else is coming along.

Sweet Rob.......great throwing a photo out to us. Gives us a little dimensionality!! :)
Did you figure out the 2nd tapering jig (on 2nd video) for the spade foot??? I'm unclear and I quote Master-T....I need to get my head around it.
Also did you pick up on Chuck's questions. The little shoulder on the dovetailed rail was a nice catch.
This whole thing is really cool.......Neil |

Hey Neil,
Nice to see you use some of T's big words. For a sec there I thought we were going to dive into string theory or something. lol.
The only problem Im having with the spade foot jig is how to use it. Im not sure if you have to flip it over the on the router table so the top bearing bit will ride against the pattern.
That was a clever detail with the 1'16" shoulder on the dovetail. Too bad Im not quite as clever and forgot to do it while I had my table saw all set up.
By the way, sweet podcast Neil. That ash dresser looks awesome. |

Worked on the dividers and legs today. I misread Elis instructions about the quad tapered leg. I thought it said to make another spade foot leg using the jig, then shave the foot down. Oh well, Ill try to fix it tomorrow. That jig for the spade foot is slick, nice one T-Mac!
I can't wait to start the inlaying and bellflowers, Im almost ready. Hows everyone else coming?

spade foot came out smooth with that jig. I was freakin nervous making the cuts after all the time I spent with the joinery. |

Table Progress Looks Great |

Rob,
Your table looks like it is coming along really great. Ken and I rough dimensioned our lumber on Friday. It has only been in our shop about one week...letting the wood aclimate to the shop. Plan on taking legs down to final dimensions on Tuesday. Going to take Eli's suggestion and only take components down to final dimensions when it is needed. I typically would have taken everything down at once, however, Eli's way make great sense to me.
