Questions for TChisel

03/10/2008 08:31 PM pmf2000

First let me say that I am in awe of your craftsmanship. I wonder if I will ever have the level of patience you do in the work that I have seen so far. In addition, I am appreciative of the time you have spent videoing your progress. I occasionally take photos of my works in progress and that can take some time to setup. With the accolades out of the way, on to the questions.

1) One of the things you questioned when you first looked at the original Bombe was whether or not you could actually do it. In comparison to the original, how do you think you're making out? Have you taken your skillset to another level? Or have you just been refining what you already know.

2) Is the Bombe the only thing you are working on? I keep wondering if this this the only thing you are working, how do you pay the light bill? If so, I assume you must know what the end product is worth and you will be compensated for time.

That's it for now. Keep up the great work!

Bombe

ok let's see I remember the first time I saw a bombe I thought it was the coolest thing ever then I found out they were only made in my home town ....even cooler for me... I never thought I would be able to do it ... Skill wise time wise money wise ... You know ... I have been totally commuted to 2 things this past year .... It was the bombe and the show .... I haven't been in my comfort zone in either ... I haven't earned a penny since I started in fact I spent 75 thousand just on the bombe.... Never mind living expenses i just dropped off the bombe last Friday sonots been 14 months .... The show has been a grind .... I didnt believe in it much at first but all the great people at bobvila did .... So I kept pushing through my own insecurities ..... Now it seems the show is taking off ..... The bombe will be ready for viewing soon and I believe its worth 300 thousand .....that's what the guy who made it in 1780 hot paid .... You know dollar for dollar..... And on Saturday I started a bedroom set .... No buyer but it will sell...... And now with the forum guys looking foward to a project ...... I am going to do it ...... I really don't know how its all gonna work out .... I just believe if I keep working my fingers to the bone and keep my eye on the ball ...... I can't fail ...... I won't fail .....the work especially the things I love is worth the grind ...... Nothing makes me madder than guys posing like good mechanics...... And trying to sell a bunch of power hand tools to do sub par work we don't need tools we need good info.... So thanks to all of you for being a part of our forum...... And I promise to always do my best to do the same

Tommy,

You are a brave man!...Just to let you know, if I had the money I would pay any amount for the bombe! 300k is a steal, bc that is truly a one of a kind!
