I'd like to raise my garge Floor to be even with livingroom.
I have remodeled my garage and have a opening from my living room to the old garage and now I would like to raise the floor to be even with my living area. What is the best solution to this can it be concreted or can I just build a wood frame? Oh I forgot to mention I had 12 by 12 tile done on it a few years ago.
Thanks in advance.

hello
about two yrs ago, a customer of mine had the same questin. it was recommended that i raise up the floor with crete so as to help prevent water from entering in, as a raised wood floor would not help. it turned out well. by the way a layer of plastic(vapor barrier) may be needed, especially if you know that the existing concrete floor does not have one.

I agree...raising the elevation with concrete is the way to go. A wood floor could have water issues in the future, and it's not quite as solid of a feeling compared to concrete, and if you try to insulate it, the insulation could get moldy down the road. |
