I grew up in a small East Texas town. I would like to rebuild my childhood home for several reasons. Not the least of which is as follows:

Due to a catastrophe we had to sell our home very quickly around 20 years ago. I never quite got over losing that house and I would now like to rebuild it in Dallas where I live now. Having lost both of my parents to Cancer and failure, I would like to try and reconnect a little bit to my past.

What do I need to do to get the plans for that house? It was about 30 years old when we purchased it in 1969 or 1970. This house was really nice with some custom features I have never seen anywhere since. 20' ceilings, spacious floorplans... a really nice layout.

Can anyone give me some recommendations on who I should contact or where I might start?

That was supposed to be "cancer and heart failure".

In some places the building code department might have a copy of the plans. That is typically part of the city or county government.

But it varies a lot from area to area what kind of documentation that they have.

Also those are concidered copy righted material so they might not let you make a copy.

But you could use them to refresh your memory.

They might also indicate the source of the drawings where you might be able to buy a set of plans.
